This issue of Christian Bioethics presents the work of four theorists of the natural law who argue that natural law theory is essential both to bioethics as a philosophical discipline and to political discourse on contested bioethical issues. It also presents the work of four thinkers more skeptical and critical of natural law theory and of the claims of natural reason unaided by grace. The issue seeks to further a dialogue on precisely the question of whether natural law theory has made, is making, or could make a significant contribution to bioethics.
